Health Improvement Performance Management

Work to review health improvement performance management is being taken forward by the Scottish Government (Public Health & Wellbeing Directorate) and NHS Health Scotland working with a high level, cross-Government and cross-sector Steering Group. The Steering Group have proposed a set of priorities for health improvement and reducing health inequalities that are shared across the whole delivery system.

The Steering Group have proposed a set of priorities for health improvement and reducing health inequalities that are shared across the whole delivery system.

Please read the discussion paper which is available to download on the website www.rocketsciencelab.co.uk/hipm  . These proposed priorities are for health improvement - they sit within the national framework of outcomes being developed by the Scottish Government across its five strategic objectives, and are fully aligned with this framework. The Government intends to announce its framework in the next few weeks.The Steering Group held an event for Chief Executives of local authorities and NHS Boards in Scotland on 26 October to discuss these proposed priorities and the performance management systems within which they sit.   Presentations from this event are also available on the website.

Regional events:  Three further regional discussion events with community planning partners have been organised for:

  • 26th November – Perth – The Royal George Hotel
  • 30th November – Edinburgh – Radisson SAS
  • 3rd December – Glasgow – Marriott


Who should attend? These events are targeted at individuals who are involved in joint planning for health improvement and agreeing and setting strategic priorities across Community Planning Partnerships and Community Health Partnerships. This includes colleagues within the Voluntary and Community sectors.
